THE PLAYER

THORWALD

Thorwald is an old man whos been corrupted by corruption, and with his sword and cursed arm is he in search of his kidnapped dog. Despite his age is Thorwald pretty agile being able to perform a dash which allows him to move between platforms and gaps.

COMBAT

Thorwald is built upon a triple chain attack, where he ques from a front slash to a backhand slash to an uppercut. After performing a normal attack does Thorwald find himself in a tired state where he's locked in place. The chain attack allows Thorwald to ignore his tired state until he breaks a chain . 

ABILITIES

Since Thorwald is tainted by the corruption is he allowed to use the corruption abilities. In each of the 4 areas is there a unique ability that's a final reward for completing the trials of the land. 

The 4 abilities are:

FIRE - Allows Thorwald to burn down bushes and dead trees. It also deals continuous burn damage to enemies.

 

ICE - Lets Throwald transform rivers into bridges of ice, it can also be used to freeze enemies in place for a short duration.

LIGHTNING - Can be used to activate old mechanisms across the land and its deadly dealing AOE damage and good to clear waves of enemies.

VOID - The most basic ability, is a ranged ability that can open demon doors and deal ranged damage.

MY RESPONSIBILITIES

THE SOUTH

After the player clears the tutorial do they exit the cave and find themselves on an empty road leading through a thick forest. It's a long and friendly path without any dangers and acts as a calming pause removing all thoughts of danger until Thorwald reaches the walls of the nearby village.

I did everything in this level except for the assets and the code all of those credits go to the amazing graphic and prog team.

THE HUB & INBETWEENS

Unlike the south, the village is undergoing a plague, corruption is covering the town and seems to come from a gate to hell of some sort that resides in the middle of the town square. This gate is opened by gaining all 4 of the abilities. From each of the directions are there shor inbetweens connecting all the worlds areas to the hub.

THE BOSS FIGHT

The boss fight is the heart of the corruption and is divided into 3 phases, each phase adds another pair of tentacles that grows in both attack range and speed. This was a collaborative effort between me, Felix Rahm, Anton Liivak and Emil Nygren. Together did we create and deliver a cool boss fight worthy of being the so-called end of the journey.
